Garry Wilson

Garry was born in Kemano, British Columbia, into the Haisla Tribe of the Kitamaat Band. Early in his career development, Garry apprenticed under his uncle Henry Robertson, and studied at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Residing in Vancouver, BC, Garry works professionally carving, drum-making, and painting. The works he produces include both traditional and contemporary Native design. Garry has participated in many exhibits in Western Canada and the United States. His work is sought after and is part of many private collections.

Garry attributes the unique quality and strong design skill in his work to the influence of his uncle, Henry Robertson, Robert Davidson, and the current surge of contemporary Native painting. Garry remains true to his native heritage for inspiration. Although his work is of traditional content and style, there is a distinct signature of his own that continues to develop.
